The definition of a steward is one who manages the money or property belonging to another. Now in our republican form of government, we elect representatives to manage the dollars that we tax payers send them--to put them to good use in "providing for the common welfare". It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they are not doing so hot.
If Congress continues business as usual, we are headed for bankruptcy and an economy that will make the current recession seem like good times. The CBO says that the government will incur a record deficit of $1.5 trillion in 20011, causing the debt to rise to $10.4 trillion. Within 10 years, the debt is expected to rise to $18.3 trillion.
